Portfolio: Not mySelf
I started working on self-portraits fall 2016 during my first semester in the MFA program. I was extremely uncomfortable being in front of the camera, despite the project being abstracted nudes. So I started an exercise of doing selfies to practice seeing myself as a photo. The exercise continued the next semester as I kept up with self-portraits and eventually evolved into what it is now (2019) towards the end of my MFA. Now the selfies have grown into a project that revolves more around my self-reflection and how I show myself to others versus how I am actually feeling. I suspect this project will continue to evolve and change as the years go on.
